We started the morning with our balloon pop attendance. Teacher called out the kids' names. Then the kids came up to the smartboard and found their name. Tapped it. Pop. Balloon pop attendance--kids love it.
Many of the week's activities centered around learning about each other. We played several find-a-friend games. We did an ABC friend hunt--looking for fellow students' names as we go down the alphabet. We played find-a-friend bingo.

Who took the cookies from the cookie jar?
Great way to learn each other's names!
We were busy making our alphabet line. We came up with things that begin with a target letter. Then each student traced over the letter and illustrated it. We learned an important reading and writing skill: the picture matches the word, and the word matches the pictures.
Make new friends,
but keep the old.
One is silver
and the other is gold.
A circle is round.
It has no end.
That's how long I want to be your friends.
