Counting down was the exciting topic for each day these past weeks. We ran our final days of the week with something fun. Monday, we read read read! It was so nice to see kids partner up and read or go off to a corner and cuddle up to a good book. Tuesday, we played games. Kids had fun introducing their games from home and sharing it with class friends. Wednesday, we did a Make-It day. Here we did a variety of activities: STEM tubs, make-a-book, tinker kit, puzzle, make a play (theater), and tower lego challenge. Thursday was our outdoor fun Field Day. Our class hosted the rubber ducky race.
Finally, the very last day, we enjoyed a movie together, Space Buddies (combining out topic loves of animals and space!). We voted for the class movie through our first try at google form. It’s a google program where you can answer questions in multiple choice and/or short answers. It gives me, the owner real data that showed the percentage of votes.
The last hour, we ended it with a final circle around the rug. We listened to our 1st grade memories recorded earlier in the day. Then we did a bubble wish. We wished each other a fun summer, a great 2nd grade year, and a heart-felt wish to have our same friends in 2nd grade classes again! With each wish, we got to blow through the bubble wand. May our memories always stay with us and our wishes for 2nd grade come true! Thank you for a wonderful year learning and having fun together!!! It has been a gift to teach and learn with your children, who on Day 1 became my kids, too!
