We had been honoring Veteran’s Day and coupling it with American symbols. We showed appreciation for our military heroes by writing them a letter. Here we are writing a letter sparked by this week’s Scholastic News about our heroes. We came up with adjectives that make up these heroes: brave, strong, patient, cautious, quiet, etc. We also looked at the different symbols of America: the American flag, eagle, Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, and Lincoln memorial to name a few.
Do you know her? She’s our “Rule-breaker, heart-breaker.” We love her, but she breaks the rule all the time. It’s like the ch chunk. It should make the ch-ch chicken sound. But what about Christmas or Cheryl? When we come up with our list, it’s inevitable that kids bring up words that seem like it fit the rule either through visual or audio. That’s why we want to acknowledge Rule-breaker, heart-breaker. Actually we want to be all over it and know when the rule is broken.
